Karen M. Askounis, DVM
Dr. Askounis graduated in 1986, with honors, from the University of Illinois, College of Veterinary Medicine. Since graduation, she has practiced small animal medicine and surgery in the South suburbs. She started County Line Pet Hospital, in 1991. Dr. Askounis has pursued additional training in trauma medicine, behavioral counseling, and Veterinary Orthopedic Manipulation. She has a special interest in internal medicine and behavioral problems in companion animals. Dr. Askounis enjoys the companionship of her pets – three pitbulls, and four cats. She also raises rare breed sheep for conservation and wool.
T. Martin-Maragh, DVM
Dr. Martin-Maragh has practiced veterinary medicine and surgery for over 20 years. She is a graduate from the University of Illinois, College of Veterinary Medicine. She has special interests in trauma medicine, internal medicine, reconstructive surgery, pain management, and physical therapy/rehabilitation. She is currently ‘owned’ by her loyal, senior Labrador, ‘Clifford’ who has anxiety issues…a senior “scrappy Terrier” mix named ‘Scrappy’ who will forever look like a stray…a polydactyl cat named ‘Porterhouse’ who uses his ‘paddle-paws’ to catch & eat annoying insects (he’s a keeper!)…and a little Maltese mix named ‘Mayzie,’ who is a delicate flower and screams whenever the cat chases her or whenever her life seems threatened (90% of the time), but yet eats like a Rottweiler & loves a good game of tug-of-war???? In her spare time, Dr. Martin-Maragh enjoys spending it with her husband & four children. She also enjoys informative reading, working out, and gardening & landscaping.
Cassie, Certified/Registered Veterinary Technician (CVT/RVT)
Cassie joined our practice August 2012. She has completed the necessary educational training and has earned her license as a Certified Veterinary Technician . She is dual licensed for both the states of Illinois (as a CVT) and Indiana (as a RVT). In her free time, Cassie enjoys spending time with her husband, 3 dogs, 2 cats, and traveling.
Emily, Client Care Representative
Emily has worked here since 2011. When she is not busy here greeting you & your pet with her cheerful personality, she spends time with her boyfriend, Chris, and her own interesting menagerie of pets. These include 3 dogs, 2 cats, 2 rats, & 5 rabbits. She also takes the pleasure in rehabbing strays that have had a rough history so that they can have an opportunity at a new, loving life. She is currently a student at Prairie State (Goal –> RN). In her free time, she enjoys painting.
Jessica, Certified/Registered Veterinary Technician (CVT/RVT)
Jessica graduated from the Fox College Vet Tech Institute and became a licensed technician in 2012. She has been working at County Line Pet Hospital since July 2014. She is also dual licensed for both the states of Illinois (CVT) & Indiana (RVT). In her free time, she enjoys camping, fishing, and spending time with her two crazy dogs & as well as fostering dogs in need of a home.
Makaela, Pet Care Specialist
Makaela became a member of our team in 2016. She makes sure that all of our boarders & patients are happy with their stay with feeding, cleaning, play time, and bathing. Since working with us, she has started her journey through school on becoming a Certified Veterinary Technician. And with her busy schedule, she still finds time to spend with her family & 3 dogs AND play her beloved sport, softball.

Jennifer joined the practice in the summer of 2017. She has worked with animals for over 15 years and has gained plenty of experience in pet handling & pet care. Though fond of all animals, she has grown partial to the “Bully Breeds.”
